The Magazine Industry Towards Women.

Genre is when the music industry categorises music because formulars are easier to sell to audiences.
Majority of the the music magazine industry it masculine based and targets males as their audiences.

The industry stereotypes people into different genre's making it easier to sell to the audience. For example 'Rock' music, Mental and Country music, are primarily associated with white performers, whilst Rap, Hip-Hop, Blues, R&B, Soul, Funk and Disco all conjure up connotation of the black artists.

Majority of the music magazine are musculine targeted so wants to display a male dominant person on the front to link in with the genre of music but also make it 'sterotypical masculine posturings connoting power and dominace. They want the magazine to scream out power and dominance but also respect. Depending on the type of genre that the magazine conveys, depends on whether they choose to use a male identity as the cover or if there isn't any female icons that they could display on the cover.
